The SME-500D is an automatic testing instrument specially designed to measure the surface ionic contamination content of PCB and PCBA, applicable for ionic contamination testing on PCBA, PCB and copper clad laminates; the SME-500D is a dynamic testing instrument.
According to the ionic contamination testing method defined in IPC-TM-650, the testing process consists of three phases: solvent regeneration, contaminant extraction, and contaminant measurement.
The SME-500D adopts a high-purity, high-capacity ion exchange column, which regenerates the solvent based on the set threshold before each test, ensuring the ion content in the solvent meets the testing requirements prior to every test run.
This tester uses a special cyclic extraction mode to extract ionic contaminants on the surface of the test sample into the testing solvent. Through a high-precision measuring probe and sophisticated analysis system, it accurately measures the total ion content of the test sample (expressed in ug NaCl Eq), so as to obtain the average ion content per unit area (expressed in ug NaCl Eq/cm²). It can further determine whether the ion content meets the required standards, serving as a delivery inspection method and providing data reference for the improvement of production or cleaning processes.
